Photo credits: Unless otherwise stated, astronomical images (galaxies, nebulae) are taken by members of the observatory. Photos of the campus and educational activities are the property of Écoles du Monde and Haikintana. Some background illustrations come from the free library Unsplash.

Design and development: Site developed by Andoniaina Rajaonarivelo – minimalist and responsive design, partially compliant with RGAA accessibility standards.

Privacy policy – Personal data

Observatoire Écoles du Monde Madagascar attaches great importance to the protection of its visitors' privacy. This policy describes how we collect and process your personal data when you use our site.

1. Data controller

The data controller is Observatoire Écoles du Monde Madagascar, represented by its director, Andoniaina Rajaonarivelo.

2. Data collected

We only collect data that you voluntarily provide via the booking form: name, email address, desired date, time slot, project type and description. This data is necessary to process your request and allocate an observation session.

We do not collect any browsing data (IP address, browser fingerprint, etc.) for tracking or analysis purposes. A strictly necessary cookie is used to remember your consent choice (see “Cookie management” section).

3. Legal basis for processing

The processing of your data is based on your explicit consent and on the performance of pre‑contractual measures (handling of your booking request).

4. Data recipients

Your data is used exclusively by the observatory team (Haikintana and Écoles du Monde) for booking management. It is securely stored with Supabase Inc. and is never transferred to third parties for commercial or advertising purposes. Confirmation emails are routed via Resend Inc.

5. Retention period

Data related to bookings is kept for three years from the last booking. After this period, it is anonymised or deleted.

6. Your rights

In accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Malagasy data protection law, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access – obtain a copy of your data.
  • Right to rectification – request correction of inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure – request deletion of your data.
  • Right to restriction of processing.
  • Right to object.
  • Right to data portability.

To exercise your rights, please contact us by email at beselyobservatoire@gmail.com. Proof of identity may be requested. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the French Data Protection Authority (CNIL) if you believe your rights are not being respected.

Cookie management

Browsing this site may cause cookies to be installed on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet, etc.).

A cookie is a small file that records information about your browsing. Refusing a cookie may make some services inaccessible. However, you can configure your browser to refuse cookies.

On your first visit, you are asked to accept or refuse cookies via a consent banner compliant with CNIL recommendations. Non‑essential cookies are only deposited with your explicit consent.

Cookies used on this site

  • Technical consent cookie (stored in your browser's localStorage): it remembers your choice (accept/refuse) so that the banner does not reappear on every visit. This cookie is strictly necessary and does not require prior consent.
  • Audience measurement cookies (Umami Analytics) (optional): if you accept, we use Umami to collect anonymous traffic statistics (pages visited, duration, source). No personal data is collected and these cookies do not identify you. You can refuse them without any impact on browsing.
  • Third‑party cookies — Facebook (Meta) (optional, with consent only): with your consent, we load the official Facebook Page Plugin provided by Meta Platforms Inc. This plugin may place third‑party cookies (notably fr, xs, c_user) to identify your Facebook session and personalise the display. These cookies are subject to Meta's privacy policy. The plugin only loads if you have accepted cookies via the consent banner. If you refuse, no Facebook cookie is deposited.

You can change your choice at any time by clearing your browser's data (or by deleting the oedm_cookie_consent key in your browser's local storage).
